wall-e Once in a while, a movie comes along that is so rare and unique, and tends to leave me speechless after I watch the film.  Disney/Pixar's latest effort, Wall-E, is one of those films.

After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks).  He meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home).  Meanwhile, WALL-E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen.  Joining WALL-E on his fantastic journey across a universe of never-before-imagined visions of the future, is a hilarious cast of characters including a pet cockroach, and a heroic team of malfunctioning misfit robots.

While I was amazed with the film, when I saw it in theaters the summer of 2008, I was simply blown away by probably one of the most beautifully rendered and most touching films of this millennium.

While Pixar has always been in the forefront of computer animation, they really went into the stratosphere with Wall-E.  The robots look simply amazing and really give off the human emotion that only Disney and Pixar can pull off since Snow White and The Seven Dwarves.

Disney/Pixar have been touting for some time that Wall-E will be the new standard at which all Blu-ray discs in the future will be judged, and they cannot be more correct.

The picture itself is a marvel with direct transfer from master render with a DTA audio track that lets you here every clink and clank the robots make.

The three-disc Blu-ray features supplements not seen on a Disney Home Entertainment release since their last laserdisc.  It includes a digital copy, a brand new short entitled Burn-E (which you must only watch after seeing the complete film), the animated short, Presto, and a beautiful bounty of behind the scenes features.

Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo) and Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc.) have created a story that is more relevant than ever to the times we are living in and even foretelling our future if things do not turn around, but they never lose site of the fact that there is always hope for the human race.
