A while back, Magical Mountain reported that Disney was going to be housing a hurricane simulator in Epcot, which was to teach people how to be better prepared in the situation as well as being used as an educational tool. The exhibit opened up on Tuesday morning, August 26th, 2008 to Meteorologists and emergency management experts.
Later in the afternoon, the exhibit was opened to the public. Guests get to experience the hurricane in a "4-D" environment. They were also given trivia questions on how to best protect their homes.
Included in the exhibit is a children's area that offers interactive activities to show kids how to put together an emergency preparedness kit.
Imagineers at Disney worked closely with the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, the National Weather Service and other expert groups on the exhibit.
