Disney Fairies Set To Open this Month at Walt Disney World

Disney introduced the world to The Disney Fairies on Wednesday, just in time for the October 28 release of their DVD. The film features Tinker Bell as well as her friend Iridessa, Rosetta, Silvermist and Fawn.They also announced that they will be opening a new attraction based on the Fairies, called Pixie Hollow. The Hollow will be located in the Mickey's Toontown Fair section of the park and is scheduled to open on October 24.
Francois Leroux, a vice president of character programs with Walt Disney World Entertainment stated, "This is a franchise that is soon to be like our princesses franchise."
Jacquee Polak, Disney World spokeswoman, says, "We continue to grow in traditional and nontraditional ways. We are going to continue to focus on delivering experiences that only Disney can provide."
Many think that Disney's lack of any major attractions is odd du e to the fact that Universal Studios is doing such a large scale expansion with the new Harry Potter area of the park being built. Not so, says, John Gerner, a theme-park industry analyst with Leisure Business Advisers of Virginia. "As a strategy, one thing you don't necessarily try to do is expand the same year your competition does. It doesn't tend to serve either player. The fact that Universal is putting in the big Potter area may have Disney saying, 'Let's pause and see what happens, and then we'll follow up.'
