Disney's A Christmas Carol Is a Delight

One could say "A Christmas Carol" has been portrayed in as many variations as there have been years, since Charles Dickens first introduced the world to Ebenezer Scrooge. With each new technological cinematic advance, came a predictably new way to share the story.

That is, until now. Disney Pictures and Robert Zemeckis guide us through the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge,  a story of an old miser,portrayed effortlessly by the brilliant Jim Carrey. If nothing else, this movie reminds us that it's the subtle uses special effects that make quality movies.And Disney's A Christmas Carol has it all.

The genius of this movie is the subtlety of the special effects. As we journey with Carrey through his vivid memories of Christmases past, present and future, we're reminded of what Disney does so well: Disney makes perfection. With Carrey playing the rolls of Scrooge, spirits and other characters throughout Ebenezer's life, Zemeckis so masterfully controlled the special effects, that it makes you forget entirely that you were watching a movie in 3D, much less wearing the glasses. The effects were superb. Not only did the special effects remain fresh, they brought a quality of perfection. From the snow falling closer to your hands, to the ability to seemingly come literally face to face with the ever famous chin of Ebenezer Scrooge. The special effects were just that, Special!

However, the joy from this movie comes from watching the pure genius of Jim Carrey bring his own version of this timeless character to life. As Carrey plays Ebenezer Scrooge of all ages, from that of Ebenezer as a young lad, to that of the old man we have all come to know the "bah humbug" man himself.

This is a holiday hit.Despite the possibility for Disney to have strayed from the old classic, this movie brings home that traditional Christmas Goose. And, as Tiny Tim would say "Merry Christmas, everyone!"
