Walt Disney World Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney®

This is it. The epicenter of excitement. The be-all, end-all of big-city fun. Blocks and blocks of shops you've dreamed about. Restaurants you've read about. Clubs and theaters that cut your curiosity loose. Downtown Disney®. You can't have a better time with so little time in town.

Downtown Disney Overview

Walt Disney World Pleasure Island Entrance Downtown Disney® was a quaint little area called Disney Village Marketplace/Pleasure Island plaza, but that all changed. In 1997 Walt Disney World® redesigned the area into a shopping/dining/entertainment mecca known as Downtown Disney®.

The Disney Village. Sure it had cute little Disney shops, an ice cream parlor and a couple of nice restaurants. It had a Pleasure Island, Planet Hollywood, Rainforest Cafe and even an AMC movie theater. But no one outside of its re-creators could have imagined the complete makeover Downtown Disney was about to receive. With a single name, more focus, shared marketing and support staff, and brand new attractions, the components of Downtown Disney® became one - an integrated complex that is hopping almost 'round the clock.

My wife and I have gone to Downtown Disney for about nine years when we are on vacation in Florida. We love the Disney Store quite well. It's fun in the day time but when darkness comes all the lights come on and it feels magical and amazing to see all downtown at night. We love it and will be going back in January 2007 can not wait. Hope to see you there.

A few years ago my husband, son and I went to Downtown Disney and had a blast. We enjoyed the shopping, the atmosphere and the fountains. Those kept my son entertained for most of the evening. Magical is the way I have to describe it. We are on our way again this weekend.
