Michael, Gorham, ME, USAMy family and I have stayed at numerous Disney hotels- including the Wilderness Lodge, the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney'd Port Orleans Riverside. They are all great hotels and all have their advantages, but the Dolphin is our absolute favorite. Consider the following:
1. The Location. WOW!!!! Coming from Epcot or MGM after the end of the evening, while everyone waits for buses and boats, we had a leaisurely five minute walk to the hotel. In addition, I found that it was convenient to get to all of the parks- (sometimes using creative methods- like a boat to MGM, a bus to the Contmporary and the monorail to Magic Kingdom- 25 minutes!!! Half the time that a bus from the Wilderness Lodge to Typhoon Lagoon!) particularly when you compare it with the circular route that the Wilderness Lodge shuttles take. (I mean, how many times do we have to see the Graand Floridian?)
2. The discounts for teachers and nurses. Combine with an All Ears upgrade and you have a quality room for a very reasonable price.
3. Service. The service is outstanding. We had a minor plumbing issue that was immediately attended to and we were provided with the choice of a box of Disney chocolates or a $15 discount on our room price.
Additionally, The life guards regularly organize games and activities for the kids. They seem to always be having a good time.
4. Comfort. The rooms have been upgraded and the down comforters and pillows are extremely comfortable.
A fantastic hotel!!! I cannot recommend it more highly!

Jana M, Florence, AL, USAWe stayed at the Dolphin June '03 using the discount available to teachers. We loved it! It was so convenient to take the water coaches to Epcot and MGM. One afternoon we entered Epcot at the back entrance where the water coach docked and to our surprise stood Sleeping Beauty all by herself. Our girls were delighted to get to stop and take a picture with her without the lines of people. The character breakfast available on Sunday mornings was easy to be seated, plus we did not have to leave the resort. The staff was also very helpful with getting us in touch with Disney transportation when we left a package on the bus. A little bit more money, but we will definitely stay again.
TIP: Register at Starwood Preferred Guest (owners of the Dolphin and Swan). We got an upgrade, plus built points for future vacations!
Magical Mountain Staff ReviewI was always curious about staying at the Dolphin or Swan, and this past trip my family finally did. All I can say is that I really wasn't too impressed.
The decor was great, but it was missing that "Disney Magic" feeling. It really felt like you weren't staying on Walt Disney World Grounds. For the price this hotel was (even with the annual passholder discount) I would much rather stay at a medium tier disney resort.
Also be forwarned that the key cards can't be used in the parks. --
