Splash Mountain Overview
One of the Magic Kingdom's major attractions is Splash Mountain. Based on the 1946 Walt Disney film, "Song of the South", this ride features the antics of Brer Fox and Brer Bear's attempts to catch
Brer Rabbit as he looks for his laughing place. Over 100 Audio-animatronic figures entertain you as your log boat winds its way through caves, swamps and bayous, and down three minor drops before climaxing with a 52 foot plunge through the briar patch after Brer Rabbit outfoxes Brer Fox.
On Splash Mountain you're likely to get wet. Anyone suffering from a heart condition, or neck/back problems should not ride this attraction. There is also a height minimum of 40 inches.
Splash Mountain History
Back in 1984, Michael Eisner had just been name C.E.O of the Walt Disney Company, and to help
familiarize himself with all aspects of the company Eisner toured each division.
At that time, Splash Mountain was a shelved project. Dick Nunis had been the only member of the previous Disney management team that had supported the idea of putting a flume ride in Disneyland's Bear Country. However, WED did not like to part with any concepts so they put the Splash Mountain model in the back of their workshop.
The day of Eisner's WED walk-through arrived and since it was Saturday Eisner brought his son along. The meeting did not hold much interest for the young Eisner so he decided to tour WED workshop on his own.
The Spalsh Mountain attraction model caught his attention, and he called over his father to look at it
That was all it took to start production for Splash Mountain. Five years later, Splash Mountain opened at Disneyland.
Splash Mountain became an instant success at Disneyland, so plans where put in place for a replica at Walt Disney World. On October 2,1992 Splash Mountain opened in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, and has been a one of the Magic Kingdom's most popular attractions ever since.

Splash Mountain Hidden Mickeys
In the "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah" scene, you'll recognize a famous shape lying on his
back in the pink clouds to the right of the riverboat.- As you are approaching the area where you actually enter the lines, on the ground there are a bunch of cracks and on the left a set of cracks make a hidden Mickey.
- In the architecture of Splash Mountain. If you look at it from directly in front of the big waterfall, the opening of the chute is in the shape of a Mickey head, rotated to the side 90 degrees.
- There is a hidden Mickey formed by three bobbers from fishing gear. They have been placed on a little desk next to/behind Brer' Frog where he is sitting on an alligator and fishing with his toe.
- Look at the A pink cloud floating above Lady paddlewheeler in the final scence to see a lying down hidden Mickey.

This is my favorite ride at the MK. Great story, great music, and great thrills make this a combination of everything I enjoy about Disney.

Best ride Disney has to offer. The theming and displays of animatronics play a wonderful story throughout the ride. A must see...do not miss! Be sure to either get in line early or pick-up a fast pass before hitting up another ride.

WOW! What can I say, by far our favorite ride in all of WDW. We hit this ride probably 15 times every visit. The best time to go on the ride is during Spectro Magic parade at night. While everyones watching the parade you could go on as many times as you want, because there's virtually no line. If you time it right, you could see the fireworks when your coming down the "big" drop! WOW, now that's magical! That happened to us a few times and that was spectacular! a great ride for the whole family!
