Maelstrom Overview

Take a fantastic Viking voyage through Norway in Epcot's Maelstrom. Guests board a 16 passenger Viking boat to guide them on their journey. Through the use of audio-animatronics guests are able to enter and experience all the pleasures and beauty that Norway has to offer.

Guests will travel back to days long forgotten to visit a Viking country and a mythical troll forest. Afterwards, they are whisked away to modern Norway where they will experience Polar Bears, and a climatic storm in the North Sea.

Your journey ends at a quaint, calm fishing village, where you will then be taken into a theater, and be presented with a short movie about Norway and its people.

On a final note, please be kind to the trolls, if not you might find your Viking ship sent over a waterfall...backwards!

Maelstrom is a boat ride on a river of time through Norway's history including a close up look at the Vikings as well as the oil rigs and fishing industry of today's Norway. This is a really cool ride that sends riders on a boat ride through time and even exploits mythical trolls and goblins from fabled Norwegian stories. This ride is slow at times but there are some cool parts that send riders speeding down little drops and larger climbs. Riders do not get wet and it is fun for the whole family. Every time I go to Epcot I love going on this ride.

Although it is short, this is a quick look at the history of Norway. Trolls and vikings dominate the story, making this the most popular attraction in the World Showcase.
