Topic: Should Shandy Be A Boy Or Girl? Posted: December 13 2006 at 2:25pm |
As everyone knows Magical Mountain is in the process of getting ready for it's 5 Years of Magic Celebration and our new mascot is almost ready for the masses. However, even though "it" has a name, Shandy, we are unsure about Shandy's gender. Let us know how you feel (don't let the eyelashes affect you they can be removed!)

Yeah, good point; let's hope that they add a final touch to "de-sissy-ize" him! Nate did say the eye lashes could go.

I think it is a girl too. It did n't even cross my mind that it was a boy when I first looked at it. The mouth is feminine too. And it is about time some place has a girl mascot.

Yeah I am not sure how we could pull off this character as a boy. Big girlie eyelashes. I like the idea of it being a spunky, Irish, flying squirrel! She hangs out in the magic mountain. And makes sure that anyone that enters the mountain is warmly greeted, with Disney Hospitality! Gotta have her a girl. Just my two cents!

Remember this is not the final sketch Shandy can have it's eyes made more masculine and the eyelashes removed.

I do like the idea of Shandy greeting Magical Mountain members. However, the name "Shandy", I think, can go either way. I mean, a Sugar Glider, who is nocturnal and hangs out at Ragland Road fits a man description! Buff him up, slap on some High Karate, and he'll do great!

I tell ya I like it as a girl, Shandy sounds like Sandy.
Shandy is so Dandy,
Lives in the mountain and eats all the Candy,
With so many fans, she comes in handy,
Just don't make her a boy, or his name would be Andy.
LOL

Is this another verse for MM book of poetry. LOL
Ditch the eyelashes and Shandy should be a boy.

Hmmm... an eyepatch, eh?
Now, we'll have to wait for the "build-a-glider" stuffed animal to come out!

Nathan told everyone at Mousefest that Shandy was a girl. And yes there is a female mascot. Actually at The Great Gator Nation, of the University of Florida, which Nathan is an alumni, has a female mascot Alberta the Gator. She works with Albert the Gator.
So Shandy can be a girl.

I was unaware of Alberta the Gator... that is the first major female mascot I have ever heard of, not that there's anything wrong with that!
However, on the MM front page, Nathan refers to Shandy as a "he"
" Get For Ready Shandy! Shandy will be soon making his debut as the new Magical Mountain mascot. He is molded after a sugar glider with some extra magic included. Look for Shandy to be flying to the mountain very soon!"

Originally, after I saw the drawing, Shandy was going to be a girl, but after a few discussions.....well you can now see why there is a vote going on
