The Enchanted Tiki Room Overview

The Enchanted Tiki Room is hosted by four delightful birds, Jose, Michael, Pierre,
and Fritz. These four hosts lead a company of animated orchids, bird-of-paradise
flowers, parrots, macaws, toucans, cockatoos, carved wooden tiki poles, tiki drummers, and masks through a Hawaiian themed musical show.
Walt Disney World® refurbished the original show in 1988 to feature new Disney characters.
The show still has aspects from the original, but also now has the additions of Aladdin's Iago, and The Lion King's Zazu.
Walt Disney World has also updated many of the songs performed by the Audio-animatronic birds,
flowers and tiki gods. Disneyland still has the originally show with a few minor
modifications.
Tiki Room History

The Enchanted Tiki Room was Disney's first Audio-Animatronic show.
Once Walt had solved the problem of animating three-dimensional figures, he thought of putting a Chinese restaurant in Adventureland where a audio-animatronic Confucius-like character would amuse the diners by spouting Oriental words of wisdom.
This expanded into a more elaborate idea of staging a dinner show featuring a cast of
performing birds. Finally the notion of a restaurant was dropped, as it proved to not
be practical for Disneyland. What was left was a 17-minute revue with an Audio-Animatronics
cast. This was one of the last projects Walt contributed to in the park.
Many people believe this was one of Walt Disney's favorite Disneyland attraction.
The music for the original attraction was created by the famous Sherman Bros, Richard and Robert.
Musical acts. Such songs features are: "The Hawaiian War Chant," "Let's All Sing (Like the Birdies Sing)",
"Aloha to You," and, of course,
the show's theme song, "In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room"
The attraction opened on June 23, 1963 at Disneyland. Shortly afterwards The Enchanted
Tiki Room was featured at New York World's Fair in 1964 and 1965. The Enchanted Tiki room opened in Walt Disney World
in 1971 when the park opened. It was orginally called "Tropical Serenade" ,but later on changed to the name used in Disneyland.
The Enchanted Tiki Rooms Trivia

head and ears of Mickey Mouse. They are in a few areas on the doors.
- There is a hidden Mickey on Ilago's first perch. It is just underneath the Tiki God carved on the front, with two red jewels as the ears.

Bob, Punta Gorda, FL, USAWhen I was growing up...I went to Disneyworld 30+ times and Disneyland in California, Once... so I have a large heart full of maical memories at Walt Disney World in Orlando and of all those memories I cherish those of The Enchanted Tiki Room with Jose and company leading the show... even a 41 years of age I know all the song tunes and many of the words...I cannot tell you the many times I have even parodied the "Its time for you to Go" ending song to people visiting and its truly time for them to go :) lol .... In the mid 1990s I was forced to stop visiting WDW like I used to because I found out I needed two total hip replacement surgeries but that I needed to wait a few years before having them...NOW they are complete and I am ready to return to Disney again and the first place I intended to go was The Enchanted Tiki Room...I had heard there was an update at WDW so I wanted to preview it BUT after viewing a YOUTUBE version of Under New Management I must admit shedding a few tears of sadness... No more Jose leading the flock, No "In the Tiki tiki tiki room" no "When the Flowers Sing".. NONE OF IT IS IN THE WDW SHOW. What the Disney Imagineers were trying to do was Noble, BUT they missed the mark by a million miles... The show actually insults those of us (quite directly and verbally by the new characters) who enjoyed the old show... My brother just purchased a DVC (disney vacation club timeshare)membership for all of us to enjoy, but traveling to Disney Land is expensive when you consider that we live 2 1/2 hours now from WDW! The Enchanted Tiki Room has always been the first thing I see in my mind and feel in my heart when I think of WDW... Those birds are alive to me (and yes I understand the robotic technology).... If I had a chance to have my picture with any Disney character, I Love Mickey, Goofy, etc...BUT my choice always was and always will be with a picture of Jose...
If any Imagineers read this... Please change it back or as a compromise perhaps design the show to alternate at different hours between the new show and the old show...I know it can be done with a little adjustment.
Disney wants to grant us a Million wishes...I do no want money, nor some special hat, or anything, Just PLEASE consider returning Jose and the Tiki Room to us at WDW before I get to go there in November (right after thanksgiving).

The ExpertTiki Room isn't that great but it's not bad either. It's a pretty fun ride to go on with a short line. Could possibly scare young children, just depends on their excitement level.

Jenna, Greenwich, CT, USANot many people enjoy the tiki room, now adays they are so used to all of the special effects and the fast rollercoasters that flip all around. I think that to enjoy the tiki room you just have to go in there excited and ready for fun not ready for a thrill ride. I find the tiki room very entertaining. When i was younger i hated birds so this attraction wasnt my favorite but now that the fear has left i find myself walking into the enchanted room everytime i visit the magic kingdom. I find it fun and enjoyable it is one of the memories of disney that sticks in my head. I am currently on my way to gymmnastics camp and we have even decided to use the tiki room as our disney theme for our room. I find it a classicle part of disney...- Jenna ,13
