Islands of Adventure

Islands of Adventure is comprised of six islands; Toon Lagoon, Marvel Super Hero Island, Seuss Landing, The Lost Continent and Jurassic Park and now THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER. Each island offers a different theme with various rides and attractions.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

Join your favorite characters from Harry Potter as they embark on an epic journey through some very familiar places. Waiting in line for the ride is great adventure in itself as you tour the corridors and classrooms from the story of a generation. All of your favorite sights from the book can be seen and everything you love about the books and movies is included. You’ll come across talking pictures, the sorting hat, Harry and his friends, and you may even run into Professor Dumbledore himself. All the famous locations and settings from the storyline can be seen and waiting in line for this ride is actually fun because around every corner there is something new to see. Some spectacular rooms you’ll have the opportunity of visiting include the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, the Room of Requirement, the Gryffindor common room, and many more.  This ride takes you to the center of the action and once you exit you’ll want to do it all over again. The towering castle that has now become a world wide icon is yours to see in real life and it is an experience you won’t easily forget. Every detail that this ride has is amazing and you will simply be awe-stricken once you catch a glimpse of it. This new attraction has also broken many records and obtained awards, for example, it received the Best New Attraction award for 2010 and is looking to go even further. It is simply a once in a life time ride that you will have a blast doing, it’s great for families and kids of all ages (as long as they are above 48 inches that is). So begin exploring Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you will have the adventure you have always wanted and have a phenomenal time doing it.

Dragon Challenge

Climb aboard either a Chinese Fireball or a Hungarian Horntail in this fierce fast-paced ride where courage is a major necessity. This ride places you right inside the Triwizard Tournament where dragon battling is just another round of fun. This roller coaster takes you on a wild ride and each dragon is a new experience because each side has a different track. While on this epic journey you will encounter the mysterious Goblet of Fire as well as the Triwizard Cup which goes to the champion of this tough wizarding challenge. This is an adventure seeking ride that is best for the older kids (those who are at least 54inches that is) and have a thrill seeking persona. This ride is a competitive good time and you’ll want to ride it over and over again while switching between dragons to find your favorite. The theme directs towards the 4th book in the series and you’ll be amazed at how in this piece of the land storylines begin to come to life and invite you to take a front seat. So be sure to utilize your bravery, and be champion enough for the Triwizard Tournament to embark on an epic adventure and battle. The Triwizard Cup is just a few flips and twists away.

Flight of the Hippogriff

Magical creatures are Hagrid’s specialty and the hippogriff is one of his favorite ones. With the head of an eagle and the body of a horse, this creature is ready to set off on a fantastic ride and Hagrid will be at your side making sure everything goes smoothly. This is a great family ride for everyone to enjoy and you’ll be able to see the side of the Hogwarts school grounds where Hagrid’s hut is visible right off the edge of the Forbidden Forest. This mini-coaster is in the shape of a hippogriffs body and is made out of wicker which gives an awesome architecture appeal. This ride is something you need to do before you leave The Wizarding World of Harry Potter because no visit is complete without seeing one of Harry Potter’s good old friends. So head towards the pumpkin patch and set off on the back of a hippogriff, because flying upon one of these is like nothing you have ever experienced before. You’ll leave with a smile on your face so wide that people will start to believe that you just won the Triwizard Tournament. If adventure is what you are looking for then that is what you will get in this section of the park, and just like every good adventure, you need to take flight on a Hippogriff to make it complete. The great thing about that is that this wizarding world just happens to have Flight of the Hippogriff, just make sure you bow first, then climb on up, hang on tight and wait for the time of your life.
